Gila Monster DVD News: Date, Pricing, and New SOL / Deep 13 Footage?!

Holy crapping crap, Batman! This news is really weird and wonderful and, as such, I’m taking it with a gigantic grain of salt, but Wired is reporting that Joel, Tom, and Crow, as well as Frank and Forrester, will be returning to their old digs for the upcoming Giant Gila Monster disc. Yes, with NEW footage! It was previously revealed that Volume 10.2 would have a clip of Joel, Trace, and Josh talking about the Godzilla vs. Megalon screw-up. If Wired is correct, this looks like the same thing, but in-character and with Frank Conniff onboard. Wow.

As most of you know, the SOL and Deep 13 sets no longer exist, which leads me to wonder just how true this is. Wired could well be leaping to conclusions based on the previously available info, or Rhino could be miscommunicating. However, if this is true, then it’s the best news ever and Rhino will be going out with one hell of a bang. At the very least, we’ll get to see Joel, Trace, and Josh Frank. Let’s not get our hopes up, but I know I’m going to be ordering the single-disc.

Speaking of which, the single-disc release of Gila Monster will be available on Rhino’s website exclusively, on February 5th. Satellite News reports that it will be available at the shockingly reasonable price of $7.98, plus shipping. It will be a limited run, but there’s a chance that they’ll do a second pressing, if sales are good enough. Whether Trace puts on the green lab coat or not, this probably shouldn’t be missed.

UPDATE: Turns out that Josh isn’t involved. Frank voices Servo, here.
