Yet Another Frank Project: “Writer’s Room”

Sony recently started up a new venture, with a mini online network of comedy series called C-Spot. Basically, they’re regularly releasing 5-minute episodes of 4 or 5 comedy series, and Frank Conniff is featured in the Writer’s Room series. The title is self-explanatory — it’s about a team of TV comedy writers, a sort of 30 Rock-type thing, only a little nerdier, and with less Tina Fey and more Kevin Pollock. C-Spot is available on several video sites, like YouTube and Hulu.

I watched the first three episodes of Writer’s Room and I wasn’t especially impressed, though I wasn’t really put off, either. Frank’s role isn’t a huge one, but the show’s entire cast gets, more or less, equal screen time. I do appreciate the fact that the cast of the show consists of actual TV writers. And while Frank isn’t in hilarious TV’s Frank form, he gets off a few of the lines that made me chuckle, including the first episode’s Andrea Yates line. I’ve embedded that first episode after the cut.

(Tips came from several sources, but SN was first.)
