Deep Ape is not officially connected to Best Brains, Rifftrax, or Cinematic Titanic and is 100% independent. The views expressed here are obnoxious, probably wrong, and they in no way represent the views of the aforementioned. Amen.

Next Rifftrax: Plan 9 From Outer Space, Take 2

Hot on the heels of Vampira’s death (oops), the next Rifftrax will be Mike, Bill, and Kevin taking another swing at Ed Wood’s magnum opus, Plan 9 From Outer Space. Plan 9, which starred a posthumous Bela Lugosi, a monolithic Tor Johnson, and the sexy Vampira, has long been considered one of the most notorious b-movies ever made. The movie was denied riffing on MST3K due to its overly-talkative nature, but Mike did take it on as one of his first commentary projects for Legend Films. Now that Rifftrax is in full-throttle, I suppose they wanted to give this classic a proper run-through. This also coincides with the recent Rifftrax Live show.

The commentary will be released on January 22nd.

  1. in color??? wow, didnt realize that. this will look completley insane!

  2. Well, it doesn’t have to be in color. I’m pretty sure the B&W cut is the same.

  3. oh yeah, duh. i forgot this was rifftrax and we supply our own movie. lol

  4. The original Mike Nelson DVD commentary also came with the color version, I believe. (The DVD came with both versions, but I think Mike’s commentary could only be used with the colorized one.) I hear Legend did a decent job with it, though.
