A Matt Groening Cartoon References Something!

Forgive me for not being on the bleeding edge of young hipster entertainment, but I wasn’t aware that there was going to be a Futurama movie. In fact, I’ve never even seen an episode of Futurama. What can I say? I’m a Simpsons-slash-Venture Bros. man, and I shall not be moved, indie cred be damned.

Though this isn’t exactly new ground for Futurama – hell, Groening makes a living off of referencing and exploiting other people, places, and things for much hilarity, and it’s not even the first time MST3K has been referenced on the show – but the recent direct-to-DVD Futurama movie contains a Mystery Science Theater reference. Or, more accurately, a reference to everyone’s favorite cloven-hoofed Civil War veteran, Torgo. Evidently, a powder made from the bodies of the executives who cancelled Futurama was dubbed “Torgo’s Executive Powder.” I see what you did thur.
