Deep Ape is not officially connected to Best Brains, Rifftrax, Cinematic Titanic, or Shout Factory and is 100% independent. The views expressed here are dumb, probably wrong, and they in no way represent the views of the aforementioned. Amen.

Cinematic Titanic Formats Revealed

After much speculation (at least, I’m speculating that there was much speculation; I wasn’t really paying attention), Joel has finally shed some light on in what form you will be ingesting his Cinematic Titanic. His latest site update states that there will be no fewer than four different ways to get your riff fix. From the site:

I’m stoked to announce our new vendor is going to be able to offer our feature length Cinematic Titanic shows in many formats. By “formats” I mean: Download to burn a DVD, Streaming, Regular DVD, and for a nominal-one-time-fee you can load your Cinematic Titanics onto any flash player, which includes I-pod [sic] and most mobile phones! You can pick your favorite! The only format we don’t have available is Blu-ray, and trust me, with the movies that we’ll be riffing on, you really don’t need it.

Oh, Joel. Surely you know that HD-DVD is going to win the format war? Blu-Ray is so passé. Anyway, he goes on to mention that there will be a survey coming through the email mailing list next week, to help determine what formats are going to be in high demand. He also hints that those of us who have signed up for this “email club” will be getting a special holiday treat, though it will require you to venture into the spooky, scary waters of DVD burning. So, if you haven’t signed up for the mailing list, do it. There’s really no excuse not to. In fact, I’ll withhold love from you, if you don’t.

All in all, I’m impressed with the options they’re making available. Mike and the gang would do wisely to pay attention. Multiple formats are your friends. Still, I can’t imagine anyone putting Cinematic Titanic on their cell phone, unless they have a postage stamp fetish, or are addicted to Joel. So, I guess it’s plausible
