The Passing of a MSTie

A couple of days ago, Satellite News mentioned that a MSTie was among the victims of the Virginia Tech shooting. For the past day or so, I’ve been debating whether or not to post the story. Yes, it’s tragic and I have nothing but sympathy for the his family, but I couldn’t help but feel that, when MSTies die everyday, some even in equally tragic circumstances, singling one person out simply because he was in a tragedy that the entire nation was “involved” in… well, it kind of irks me. In the end, however, I now think it’s best to post it. So here it is:

The Boston Globe ran a story on the 18th about Ross Alameddine, a Virginia Tech sophomore from Saugus, Massachusetts. The article describes him as a stand-up guy, very polite and funny. Also, a bit of a tech-head, so I get the feeling that I would’ve liked him. The article then goes on to mention that he was known for “repeated viewings” of Mystery Science Theater. My heart goes out to his family and friends. It sounds like he had a lot of them.

To all you MSTies on college campuses, working or studying, please stay safe.
