Deep Ape is not officially connected to Best Brains, Rifftrax, or Cinematic Titanic and is 100% independent. The views expressed here are obnoxious, probably wrong, and they in no way represent the views of the aforementioned. Amen.

Film Crew Update 2.0

Satellite News has expanded on their previous mention of the Film Crew interview, providing more elaborate details on the forthcoming Film Crew DVDs. Apparently, the discs will have a decidedly MST3K feel to them, and not just in the obvious commentary-related sense: There will be an unseen “Mad” sending them the films, and there will even be host segments. It does, however, appear to be puppetless, for the most part. I’m sure, however, it will be packed to the gills with moist grown men performing ridiculous and moderately embarrassing skits together.

Most notably, SN provides a glimpse at the cover of the first Film Crew release, Hollywood After Dark (at right; click to enlarge). The film is apparently chock full of hot, steamy Rue McClanahan action. You’ll also notice our Film Crew at the bottom of the cover, cutely decked out in their little uniforms and headsets, and apparently being approached by some kind of hostile giant.

I’m a little perplexed as to why Satellite News makes it sound like a grand revelation, which movies have been chosen for release. While not widely announced, this information has been readily available for at least a month or more. Oh well. It’s good to have more info on the projects. And please don’t spend $19.99 on these things. Shop around.
