Deep Ape is not officially connected to Best Brains, Rifftrax, Cinematic Titanic, or Shout Factory and is 100% independent. The views expressed here are dumb, probably wrong, and they in no way represent the views of the aforementioned. Amen.

Upcoming Release Schedule

Well, so long as we’ve got a slow news day, I figured that I may as well recap the upcoming releases in the Mystery Science Theater world. We have a reasonably decent lineup for the year so far, especially if you like your Mike Nelson and Kevin Murphy. Sure enough, there’s plenty of them coming up, piping hot.

March 2, 2007
Rifftrax: The Wicker Man
Mike and Kevin tackle Nicholas Cage’s unintentionally hilarious horror remake. As per usual, this commentary will carry the usual $2.99 pricetag. So far, they’ve been averaging a new track every week and, while it looks like Bill Corbett will be absent for a little while, Kevin Murphy has been a consistant contributor. After March 2, go get it, and check back here for info on future releases.

May 15 June 26, 2007
MST3K: Volume 11
Well, let’s just say, I’ll believe it when I see it. Rhino’s been plagued with rights issues and has lost three, possibly four, box sets in the past half-a-year. After pushing it back from February, May 15 June 26 is the current street date. No word on which episodes the set will contain. The set will contain Ring of Terror, The Indestructible Man, Tormented, and Horrors of Spider Island.

July 10, 2007
The Film Crew: Hollywood After Dark
Mike, Kevin, and Bill are back together for what is probably the closest thing to new MST3K content that you will ever have. Under their “Film Crew” guise, the boys are doing humorous commentaries for Shout Factory DVD releases of some old, uh, classics. This one features Rue McClannahan, uh, stripping. There’s a (strip-free) clip on the Film Crew site. Pre-order on DeepDiscount.

August 7, 2007
The Film Crew: Killers From Space
The second of the four Shout Factory releases listed on the Film Crew site. This time, it’s good ol’ Peter Graves fiddling around with… killers. From space. I guess. View a clip. Pre-order a DVD.

Maybe not an ideal lineup, but that’s still a lot of content that’s probably really good. Here’s hoping for even more, since we’re greedy little suckers. And here’s also hoping that the releases go smoothly.
