Giant Gila Monster Delayed Yet Again

According to TVShowsOnDVD.com, Rhino’s online-exclusive single-disc release of The Giant Gila Monster is facing yet another delay. Though, yes, the episode was released this past Tuesday, it will not be sent forth into our sweaty, lusty hands until either the end of this month or the beginning of March. Here’s the official statement that Rhino’s been spreading around:

Dear MST3K Fan,

Due to a production delay, the single DVD release of The Giant Gila Monster will not be shipping out until the end of February/early March. We apologize for the delay and inconvenience. As soon as we have an exact ship date available, we will update you.

If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Rhino.

Gee, Rhino, thanks for reminding us why we were so happy about Shout! Factory taking the reigns from you. Supposedly, this message is being sent to those who ordered the disc, but I have yet to personally receive it. (And no, it’s not in my spam filter.) If Shout! Factory can be even a fraction more reliable than Rhino, I will love them dearly. I may even forgive them for the unnecessary exclamation point.

  1. I supposed it could have been called “Ye Olde Shoute Factorie.”

  2. This is really crummy.

They promised a limited edition, ready to ship on the 5th. From what I’ve heard, no one has got a single disc yet. Sounds to me like Rhino pretended they were already made up, took over 1,500 pre-orders, *then* had the discs manufactured.

And they haven’t even told me about it yet! Grumble, moan, waah.

  3. I don’t mind the original delay, which pushed it back to the 12th. This, however, is just sloppy. If they thought there was a chance that they couldn’t meet their deadline, then they should’ve pushed the release date back.

If you tell me it’s coming out on the 12th, yet you won’t be able to ship it until weeks later, then that release date means nothing.
