The Reason Volume 10 Was Recalled

For months, MSTies have been speculating as to why Rhino’s Volume 10 collection was recalled just a few short months after its release. Well, MST3K forum-goer Travis has finally found a definitive answer. The Hollywood Reporter has a listing for a lawsuit filed in October by Toho, against Krypton International and, yes, Rhino. That’s right: As many supposed, it’s Godzilla vs. Megalon that killed the set. The lawsuit claims that the defendant, Krypton, “exploited the picture giving defendant Rhino the right to use it in an unauthorized work.” So, there you have it. What happened was, basically, what most people thought had happened: Krypton loaned out what wasn’t theirs to give.
